Cherokee County– Officials from state and local government, non-governmental organizations, faith based groups, and the education system have formed a coalition called the Lone Star Military Family Resource Group to find ways the community of Cherokee County can support local men and women and their families who currently and have served our great nation.
“The Lone Star Military Resource Group is standing up to help our local military and veteran families cope with military life in a civilian environment,” stated Julianne Sanford, military spouse and Family Readiness Group leader.
The Group is looking for military families in the Cherokee County area that want to meet on a regular basis to help identify challenges military families face. After the issues are identified, the Lone Star Military Resource Group will work on potential solutions with in our community.
“Community support can really help decrease military family stress, especially when a family member is deployed. Support is not always through monetary donations, but can include services like yard work help, periodic babysitting, implementing military family friendly policies in schools and businesses, baking a dinner for a military family, or just a handshake or pat on the back to say thank you for your sacrifice.” Everyone can make a difference.
