Where you can postmark your taxes by midnight!

Where you can postmark your taxes by midnight!

If you are the one of many East Texans looking to drop off your taxes, we have found a location that will postmark your forms by midnight! The American Postal Workers Union in Smith County says the postal processing facility located in Owentown will have a spot for you to drop off your taxes. The processing facility is located right off Interstate 20 in Smith County, just east of the Highway 155 exit on FM 3311. The box will not be manned, but the union says they will be checking the box all night to postmark packages.   For a map of where the facility is located, click here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=12621-12669+Farm+to+Market+3311+Tyler,+TX+75708&hl=en&sll=32.4

Busy mom Tiffany Waites takes us inside her kitchen

Busy mom Tiffany Waites takes us inside her kitchen

This week busy stay-at-home mom Tiffany Flores Waites takes us inside her kitchen to share with us a favorite family recipe and tell us a bit about herself. Tiffany, who lives in Avinger, Texas, and can't receive KLTV on her tv set, says she loves KLTV so she watches the livestream of the news on her computer. We appreciate that and are happy that she shared her family's heirloom recipe with us, and with you.

KLTV: How did you learn to cook?  Tiffany: Oh.. as a teen I kind of just jumped into the kitchen. I loved certain classic meals and if my mom didn't want to make them I would.

KLTV in Your Kitchen: Carolyn Jones shares a 'deadly' recipe!

KLTV in Your Kitchen: Carolyn Jones shares a 'deadly' recipe!

Have you ever wondered what goes on in other family kitchens across East Texas? Do you love trying new recipes, or would you like to share your own favorite recipes with your East Texas neighbors?

KLTV in Your Kitchen is a new feature occurring weekly on our  KLTV Where You Live websites. Each week East Texans will take us into their kitchens, sharing favorite recipes and telling us a little bit about themselves.

Today East Texan Carolyn Jones shared with us that she is living in a situation that many people can relate to: caring for an aging parent.

"I live in Grand Saline. I have lived here most of my life and raised my family here; two boys and a girl," Carolyn said.

"My husband of 52 years passed away four years ago, and I am now staying with my 97-year old Mother, where cooking is a major challenge! I'm trying to put some weight on her & keep it off me!  I don't cook as much as I used to, but I have a cookbook collection that I thoroughly enjoy ---both reading & cooking!"

One of the recipes Carolyn loves and shares with us here today is so good that she humorously calls it "deadly."

Help out during times of disaster

The American Red Cross-North Texas Region needs volunteers at the Longview and Tyler Chapters.  Since the restructuring of the North Texas Region, one of our main focuses is capacity building.  We need to be prepared with trained personnel for whatever disaster comes our way.  Whether it is single family house fires, tornadoes, flooding or other natural disasters, the only way the Red Cross can effectively respond is with volunteers that are trained and ready to help when needed.
